Supernatural, FMA, and comics recs
In (belated) honor of the comm's birthday, here is a selection of recs from a variety of fandoms:

Three long Supernatural fics, all gen:

In Reverse by sodakey.
Ghosts are being blamed for 3 missing hikers. Sam worries it’s connected to what happened to Dean ten years ago—and Sam's Stanford friends make Dean wonder if Sam shouldn’t leave their life, and him, once and for all. Meanwhile, a vengeful ghost has it in for Dean.

This baby is truly novel length (over 300 pages in MS word), and contains both an interesting casefile plot that moves back and forth between the present day and a ten-years-old hunt John took the boys on, and really well realized original characters (Sam's college friends). Plus, the Dean angst is yummy and delicious. And there's some Sam angst, too, for those who like that kind of thing.

A Good Man is Hard to Find by kimoney.
While Sam and Dean try to work a haunted house case, problems from Dean's past catch up to him , and he slowly crumbles under their weight (Dean angst, and both physical and psychological h/c, contains drug addiction).

Red by big_pink
Long, creepy, awesomely good reworking of Little Red Riding Hood, as Dean and Sam hunt a monster in Washington State. Dean is Red Riding Hood, and the Wolf wants (and gets) a piece of him.

One for Fullmetal Alchemist:

Save Me by Sevlow.
Colonel Roy Mustang is captured by the enemy and tortured. 50,000 words of deliciously OTT h/c and trauma recovery. I know very little about the source canon, having seen only three episodes, but this fic completely sucked me in.

And two for comics:

A Meeting of Minds by crimsonquills. Cap/Iron Man slash.
Iron Man's attempt to turn himself into a cyborg (comics canon, too complicated to explain. Just go with it) backfires in a somewhat unpleasant fashion. The only solution: a telepathic bond with one of his teammates. This one's more of a good old-fashioned soulbond fic than a true h/c fic, but it has h/c elements and it's my OTP, so I'm reccing it anyway.

A Dance for Two by jen_in_japan and arch_schatten. Superman/Batman slash.
Batman gets shot with a kryptonite bullet while on an off-world mission for the JLA, and Superman must fly them both back to safety. Will Bruce bleed to death before they get there? Will Clark succumb to kryptonite poisoning? (obviously, no, but there's plenty of angst and dual suffering before they get to help). It can be difficult to pull off h/c for this pairing, since Superman is invulnerable and Batman is, well, the Goddamn Batman, but they manage it nicely.

Yaay, Roy/Maes fic! Thanks for the link! ^__^

It's not actually slash, sadly, but the Roy/Maes friendship is an integral part of the fic.

What a pity :D

But that Steve/Tony fic was really good too. (And with slashy pairing, yay!)

*grins* When soulbonds are done badly, they're really, really bad, but when they're done well, they're glorious crack. Plus, Tony Stark is pure hurt/comfort bait. The very early days of the Iron Man comic, when he was dependant on his armor's technology to keep his (damaged) heart beating, are glorious -- he nearly dies about once an issue, while the other characters Terribly Misjudge him and Stan Lee reminds the reader over and over again that "they'd all be sorry if they knew he was dying".

It reminds me a bit of what Robert Downey Jr. said about his character:

...there was this sense of [Iron Man] being very vulnerable and not knowing from day to day whether this very precarious device that keeps him alive and drives him but is clearly a metaphor for something else, but sometimes it's not a metaphor, you know?

Ah, thank you! I have been having such a craving for some good h/c lately.

Oooo thank you. I'm particularly interested in seeing how this h/c with Batman works out. :)
